On May 31st, Andre and Dan’s new book Never Sleep (neversleepbook.com) will hit the virtual shelves of Amazon.com and the hearts and minds of graduating design students everywhere. This “pre-release” lecture offers a rare opportunity to hear from two of today’s “freshest” emerging designers (dresscodeny.com).
From the book jacket:
“At the combined age of 49, Andre and Dan’s work has been recognized by I.D., CommArts, Print, Graphis, Metropolis, The Type Directors Club, The Art Directors Club, CMYK, HOW, Adobe, Steps Field Guide to Emerging Talent and Young Guns.
They met while studying graphic design at California College of the Arts and worked for MTV. Currently they operate their own studio, dress code, located in the Lower East Side of New York.”
Speaking of themselves:
Dan is Ohio. Andre is Bulgaira. They is dress code. At the combined age of 50 their work has been recognized by shiny awards, appeared in lots of magazines, coffee table books, and 3 museums. They met while studying graphics designs at California College of the Arts. Then moved to New York and got jobs with MTV working in motion and print — before stupidly leaving their dream jobs to start a studio of their own.
They also co-teach Design, Type, and New Media classes at Pratt. A book they wrote about transitioning from school to work in the field of graphic design, entitled Never Sleep, will be published in the spring of 2008 by de.MO books. And a documentary short they directed about Ohio State football fanatics, called Across the Field will premier this Summer.
Andre eats meat and drinks that purple stuff, Dan dislikes puppies and is somewhat of an amateur magician. To supplement their income Dan and Andre work at Best Buy. See for yourself 24 hours a day at dresscodeny.com and swishahouse.biz.
